Key Updates and Decisions
- Director of Congregational Life Report
Brandon Huenemann shared reflections on his first few months in his role, emphasizing the dedication of the Sunday School team and their ability to connect with children. He outlined plans to improve program structure, including a new check-in kiosk for children and enhanced visitor tracking methods. We are excited about Brandon’s vision and grateful for his contributions thus far. - Stewardship Update
The stewardship task force is refining its approach this year, focusing outreach through mailings to maintain the integrity of our shared worship services with Ascension Lutheran Church. Congregants will be invited to share their estimates of giving for 2025. Financial giving is currently on track for the year, offering a positive outlook. - 2025 Budget Progress
Curt Hansen presented a tentative budget for 2025, reflecting current funding needs while awaiting additional ministry area requests. A surplus of approximately $39,000 is projected, though this may adjust as requests are finalized. Discussions included budgeting for the fall Leadership Board retreat, the Annual Conference in Las Vegas, and reevaluating the HVAC maintenance contract. A meeting was scheduled for November 3 to review and finalize the budget ahead of our Charge Conference on November 10. - Task Force on Adult Education
A task force led by Keith Sobraske will assess and enhance our adult education offerings. This aligns with our mission to inspire deeper engagement and spiritual growth across the congregation. The task force will officially begin in January 2025. - Board Meeting Covenant Draft
Cathy Sherry presented the draft of the Board Meeting Covenant, with plans for further discussion at the November meeting.
Looking Ahead
The Leadership Board is preparing for critical discussions in November, including finalizing the 2025 budget and identifying ministry areas to support with intentional focus. Additionally, we are exploring ways to tithe from our income to “pour gas on” ministries that align with our mission and goals.
As always, I remain grateful for the dedication of our Leadership Board and the vibrant work being done across NSUMC to fulfill God’s call.
